Guys,

I own a 2001 110 TD5 with 150k. I have been fairly happy with it, have done all the fluids and filters. Recently I have felt on the freeway going to like 80-110km/h like some sort of a resistance on the drivetrain, I have checked transferbox, diffs and gearbox oil. All good, there is a little tiny noise humming that I hear (and of course only i can hear). Generally speaking it sounds like something isnt greased up properly.

Also thought it might be a engine performance problems (air hose) but thats all fine. Any paths I can follow to narrow down the problem before I go see and overpriced unqualified Spanish dealer here?

Out of gear the car roles without problems.

as to the bearings after a run feel the hubs if they are more than a tad warm maybe they need re-greasing , also jack each wheel off the deck and give a good push on the top of the wheel if they are warn will feel a sloppy sort of klunck ;)

oils have been done just 3-4 month ago. All like it says in the manuel. I duobt the wheel bears hence it runs out of gear fine, almost no noise. Gears go in well and stay, but like i said 4-5thh gear you can start to feel that something isnt running as smooth as it should.

could well be previece owner neglected it and the damage was done before you got it
might pay to get some molyslip type product for the whole drive train but start with the gearbox ;)
or it could be just you are paranoid about it :D

so a damage to the transfer box i recon would sound abit more, I also feel the resistance when I accelerate at 80-110 km/h that is just doesnt want to go as it used to.

Also when I let it ride downhill on the freeway and the drivetrain is actually dragged by the car, i get a similar noise aswell.

I will try to locate some molyslip here in Spain.

thx for the input

might be the handbrake cable/shoes sticking ? , ( farther in-laws did and that was holding back a tad ) you never know !! .
Has it done this after you changed the oils ?? - could be the wrong oil in there ! .

naw pretty sure i have the right oil, been pretty anal about getting the right stuff cause i heard some horror stories. But no oil has been changed a couple of month ago and I have done over 3000km on that change. I doubt its the handbrake because first occurred at only high speed 80-110km
