hi,
just found this site, first string ever.
i have a freelander, drives well ,looks good,a 1999 model
have had the throttle body replaced, have just had the head gasket done,
yip you guessed it its a 1.8 k-series.
however i love the car, could someone say something good about the freelanders as i am haveing a hard job getting any positive feedback.

The bestest ever motor ever ,the 1.8 has had its problems but we only here of the sad story's loads don't have any problems at all , feel that L R should put there hand up to any on going problems with any type or model and then resolve them free off charge, and then watch the selling shoot through the roof, but how many car company's got that much bottle [none] maybe a learning curve here [take note you machine men ]. . .

Look yellow fellow least its not like you a red zit on a bald mans head,or in your case a yellow one. . .pusss , go squeese it please , but not near a freelander. . .squirt . :p

thanks for the replys, SLOB are you on commission as to how many
landrovers you can get on your tow truck.
dear yellow disco,i would never let my daughter get in that situation in the
first place.
one honest answer in three is`nt too bad . thanks for the input MING , never liked that gordon fellow anyway ,far too flash .

Hi Brian, I have tried in the past to tell people if they drive their Td4's or 1.8's as they were meant to be diven most of the bad news wouldn't arise. If you want to blaze up and down the motorway at speeds and revs at the limit then keep writing the tales of woe.
Put it this way, try running flat out for a few hours and unless you are an athlete you'll break down,........... see the point. Freelanders are great when used as meant to be.:)

cheers guys,at this moment in time i seem to be stuck for words ,i was looking for some serious answers but i have this image of my granny telling me to leave her chocolate friend where he is.

But that's the point, the Freelander is sold as a saloon car replacement that can also be a 4x4. Drive it like a saloon on the motorway and the engine/gearbox/summint will fail; drive it like a rpoper 4x4 and you'll spend your life diging it out and asking proper 4x4s for a tow. Why bother??:) :)

I'm not an athlete won't try to run for hours, but then again I don't pretend to be one either.

Now I don't want to get involved in a slanging match, but I bet the freelander on the playing field had normal road tyres and the driver was cr.....p!
As I said do the right things with the right kit and have fun.

yep. but considering my rear wheel drive BMW which gets zero traction in anything other than dry conditions never failed to get off the same part of the field it doesnt exactly inspire me with confidence in the freelander. dont get me wrong, the freelander is a cracking car, but its not an off roader by a long stretch. it takes a lot more than 4WD
