I have checked on old threads and most seem around 15 years old and the links don't work anymore, so I'm asking for help on part numbers for an FD35. It's a non turbo in my 90 only recently purchased so trying to build up a catalogue of whats needed for it. I.e first big service and unwiring 38 years of botched on the fly fixes. Any contacts for people in the know is much appreciated.

Welcome :)

Cant help with numbers. Maybe a Nissan forum might help;) for the engine. If it still keeps its drive line as LR from there back then most of the other stuff is easy to find, I use this for part numbers to then search on https://new.lrcat.com/#!/1228

Plenty of free online manuals available if you look around too.

Can we see some pics of under bonnet? It looks quite nice in the pic.

A rough location may help too

Thanks, had a few attempts for nissan owners fd35 stories not much really around. I'm guessing a good auto supplies store can match anything I take off. I'm in Northern Ireland. All seems normal land rover from there back.

I had similar problems sourcing service parts for the Mazda SL35 fitted to my RRC. The Mazda and Nissan diesel conversions were very popular in the 90's. They were also both fitted to many forklifts so finding gaskets and internals should not be a big problem.
You could research if Motor & Diesel Engineering carry Nissan parts.

So, another job ticked off the list this morning in that a nice heavy duty marine1500amp battery isolator is now fitted so should stop the parasitic drain till I find the culprit.
Currently have a door in pieces to change a broken latch, seem to need to take the window guide out to remove so tea break was needed. I had also been looking for heater plugs on the engine but its looks like there is an intake heater instead? Heavy cable going to it but doubt its wired to anything, i can always add a big 50 amp momentary push button. That will be the next mission and maybe it will help the cold start smoke.

Finally it's MOT'ed and on way back it bust a brake cylinder so i still have not drove it on the road more than a few mile. I have just bought a set with 2 new rear cylinders, 2 brake drums and shoes and springs. That should tighten up the rear brakes. The A frame bushing is replaced all fluids replaced and engine serviced. Full set of springs, engine mounts and track rod ends. Surely can't still be knocking after this. With the little driving iv had in it it seems to be happy cruising at 55ish but I see others mention disco transfer case to up gearing slightly especially for these low reving engines.. I was wondering if a few tyre sizes up would have a similar effect. 🤔 it's running 245 70 16 at present which look nice but if I went to 265 75 16 would it step up the gearing enough and also fill the arch a bit more. Think thatd a 29 Inch to 31.6 inch or an 80 profile will take it to 32.7 inch. That's a 7 and 11 percent increase respectively. I don't plan on towing very heavy or very long runs just a 60mph cruising speed that doesn't scream it's head off. With the biggest wheel. Speedo would say 60 but would be doing 66ish.
