hiya guys.

hope this message finds everyone well

my passenger door central lock doesnt work, all the others work fine.

i have to open it by the internal door handle, when i use either the inside switch or remote it will lock bu not reopen.

ive been looking on ebay etc for a reconditioned one and was wondering if i may ask a few questions please.

if i order one what do i exactly need to ask for , would it be a passenger side central locking motor, or does it come under a different name.

is the 3 door motor different from a 5 door one as there are some on ebay.

im sorry to be so dim but just didnt want to get hold of the wrong park after paying for it.

mine is a 2002 TD4, 3 door auto

thanks again

best to search for 'freelander door latch' on ebay either passenger side or often referred to as left side. 3 door and 5 door are the same latch. But front latch is different to rear.

thanks my friend for that, sorry once again for sounding so dense but didnt want to end up with a door lock set.

plus have you happend to have changed one as i had a quick look and it looks a right pig to do

i still to this day cannot find a working parts program that works on my laptop with vista.

hopefully there will be out there one that works ????

all the best

Yes I changed one a month or so back - bought it off ebay as a working latch but it wasn't so had to sent back and get a refund.

It looks complicated but is easy to do, just 3 torx screws and disconnect the rod from the outside door handle, it unclips from the plastic retainer then just pulls out - if you want better access, unbolt the exterior pull handle but not really necessary. then when the latch is loose in your hand open the plastic flap that gives access to remove the interior pull handle cable.
