Ok, I'm a newbie and after my first thread in the introduction area, I'm decided on getting a D3.

I'm looking at about a manual 07 with about 50k on her.

What surprises (if any) am I in for? I've heard horror stories about the manual gearboxes and electronics. Are these stories true?

Any other little problems I ain't heard about?

Just be very clear about what you expect and can afford. The purchase cost and fuel/insurance are easy to calculate - its the repair costs that can mount up quickly. They are not cheap or easy to fix, plus insurance company warranties soon find a way not to pay out on a claim if they possibly can...
The Disco 3 forum is well worth a look round for potential problems/costs.
They may be nice to drive and in some circumstances effective at their job,but in my opinion they have gone away from a field fixable 4wd utility. That does not mean they cant be comfortable and have decent road manners either.... Too much of them is single use plastic rubbish.

Thanks eightinavee. Good answer. I'm starting to think it's gonna be too expensive to maintain, spares, servicing etc. Shame. I absolutely love the look of them. Beautiful trucks! I deserve one too as I've been chugging around in a 96 Ford Maverick for the last 6 years. Time I spoilt myself.

However, reality check! Looks like there's gonna be a 90 sw on my drive! ;)
