I can't guarantee I could fix it either - my faultmate is the baby version with just the BECM CPU module installed, as that's all I use it for.. But I DO have Vehicle explorer installed, and on a machine with an actual serial port - so I am happy to take a look and see if there is anything obvious going on with it if you wanted to send it to sunny Swindon. I don't have a lot else happening at the moment Well, other than having rebuilt my BECM tester, and slowly going through and testing all the random BECMs I have kicking about here, so I can get an inventory of what's working and the versions!
if you want to send it, then drop me a PM. If you send all the cables etc, then I can check it all out - I have a couple of Windows 7 machines, and a Windows 10 one aswell, so can check on various platforms. I can also repair the cable if required.

After that it's onto HEVAC controllers, window switchpacks, and door latches.... so wiring a faultmate cable would almost be a nice break! haha..
