Feeling better at last I got back to work on the P38.

I have 2 faults on the engine ECU (diesel), the first one is as follows:-

Invalid fault, Invalid value, Fault logged
current (rpm = 32 water temp = 108) Occurances 10.


On the live data screen the rpm is correct @ 736rpm and the water temperature is correct in that it started off at 0C and rose to 65C whilst I was playing.
I can clear the fault it but it comes back.
Question is wtf does this fault mean as the sensors appear to be reading OK on the live data screens?

Second problem:-

Blackbox claim that the SWG set point should be 1500 after 20 seconds, mine is 3250. The set point actual should be similar, mine is 2780.
Are Blackbox wrong or do I have a problem? Engine runs, & starts fine with good economy.

Any info that might help please:confused::confused::confused:

Don't know mate. Try unplugging your PSI then trying again. Just a thought.

I see it is quite old post, but I got same fault (the only one, except cruise which is not fitted) on my p38 diesel manual and do not know how to solve it.

I have also problem with acceleration, there is almost no acceleration :)

One thing more I have on my input readings: Fuel Quantity compared stuck on 21.5 mg/str and on live data actual fuel is not more than this value.

I read flash codes for engine and there is fault 33, but unfortunatelly there is no such code on the list of faults (omega and bmw forums searched).

Pls, if you found solution for clearing this fault, let me know.

Some faults cannot be cleared.

It depends on what EDC system you have & if you have the later maf flow sensor.

Diagnostics, especially the faultmate is to clever for it's own good, & should only be used as a tool, not a be all end all.
If the vehicle is behaving correctly, good fuel consumption with no black smoke at tickover, then all's well & not worth worrying about.

That's the conclusion I have come to after many trouble free miles.:)
 
I've connected my old MAF, which was changed for new one for some reason (long story) by local garage few months ago, and .... there is all fine now. No faults on EDC and car is working perfectly. I do not know only, why they changed good working MAF. Car was ok for sometime after that, but few weeks ago problems with power appeared.
