fault on my mates 200 tdi advise please.

as above my mate has a 200 tdi k reg disco 1 'hasnt started it since xmas went to it the other day put 5ltrs red in her and put jump leeds on for a while tryed starting it for a good 20mins on and of ... when it did start it was running fine until i took it a test drive down the road ............
symptoms are .revv it high and as revs come down it goes to below tickover and wont rev then cuts out and wont start for a few mins. any idea what prob could be i was looking to buy it for doner but bit iffy . it has had pump and turbo turned up so could that be reson

could have a mouse/bird nest in intake/ air filter

replace fuel filter and check fuel lift pump

have checked lift pump and that seems fine it does have 180k on clock

defo a fuel issue if its been stood for a while..could be blocked fuel lines,blocked sedimentor ,blocked fuel filter etc

If it's been standing a while it could be any number of things and with 180K on it the chances are all of them.

Blocked air filter.
Blocked fuel filter.
Water in the tank.
Leaking fuel pump.

Check sedimentor doesn't mean anything if no water comes out the sedimentor could be blocked, not uncommon.
Leaking pump can cause this, mine did, worked fine at high revs and like yours took ages to restart afterwards, smell of fuel and wet patch below pump gives it away, not difficult to find as the fuel pours out.

All these are cheap to fix.
