Alright lads and lasses, any thoughts on this.... my wife was driving back from school this morning when the Disco ditched its fan belt. No prob' with that other than a long walk to get a new one.
On closer inspection the cause appears to be the fan belt pulley detaching itself from its shaft.
The four threaded lugs the pulley bolts to have all fractured and won't hold the pulley. I have been told by my local Landy spares place that the pulley shaft comes as part of the cover plate assembly.... £130 new.
Any thoughts.... have tried to bypass fan pulley with a shorter fan belt so as to get mobile in the short term but to no avail.
In the mean time I'm walking to Morrisons for beer!

Someone else on here broke the shaft and from memory, they were told the same. Just so happens I know where there's a cheap used cover plate going...spam, spam, spam:D:D:D

PM me if you would like details.
