Fan noise?

Hi, my Range Rover td6, 50% of the time the interior fan makes an annoying vrrrrrr vrrrrr noise it dosent speed up or slow down with the fan speed settings, the noise seems to come from behind were the battery is, the passenger side vent. any thoughts will be very much appreciated thank you. John.
