fan/motor/pump running on after engine turned off

hi i have a 2001 freelander td4 and there is some sort of pump running for a short while after the engine is turned off.
the noise is coming from inside the ns front wing.
is this normal and due to cold conditions or something!?
the clutch was changed at the start of december and i had not noticed the noise before that, could something have been damaged/disturbed?

any help appreciated

possibly fuel burning heater ?
