Fan Control Cable

I changed the leaver section of that assembly a couple of months back as my one had snapped at the knob.
To get that cable off i used some bent needle nose pliers and i grabbed the little tail at the front and looking at that photo, i turned it anti clockwise so that few wraps of wire uncoil a bit and opened up.
I'm not talking about straightening it out or anything like that, the coil of wire almost acts like a spring so a little bit of a twist opens it up enough to release the pressure and lets it drop off.
Getting it back on is a bit more difficult because you need another pair of pliers in there to hold the long end of the cable while you open up the coil with another pair of pliers and there's not that much room in there.

Have you ever managed to get that nut & screw/trunnion off the heater box?

Can’t remember….

Think if you remove the bolt that crimps onto the cable, then prise apart the metal bracket it may fall out.
(not near a landy to confirm)
I think the above is correct, if you remove the bolt and the cable I believe the "nut" just slots through the lever and can be removed but is likely to be stiff and seized in place. It is probably easier to remove the whole arm as the little spring washer that d it in place on the shaft should just prise off.

Thank you, yes, it does on my newly-acquired "good" heater.
The MOD manual gives the part number

Thank you dag019, I've tried getting those shafts out before without luck, but I'll look again now.
