It should be easily heard at motorway speeds, as the FL2 is very quiet.
Does altering the phone volume make any difference?
Or maybe the car is making more noise than it should?

Thanks Nodge68 I’ve tried the Phöne volume trick to no avail do you know if the phone uses the car radio speakers or has an independent one ?
Cheers Bob.

The phone audio comes through the front door speakers, and the audio system mutes while the call is connected.

You need to work out what part of the system is a fault, before replacing things.
The audio system is split into multiple modules placed around the vehicle, the part with the buttons is just the command module, which provides timing data to the rest of the system.
The actual sound comes from the amplifier module behind the RH boot side panel, and the Bluetooth connectivity come from the BT module which is bolted to the amplifier module.
The CD player is a separate unit behind the command module in the front, with the NAV screen above, with NAV module being under the driver's seat. The whole lot is connected by an optical communication link (called MOST), which makes trouble shooting quite difficult and long winded.
Also some modules need to be synced to the controller using an suitable diagnostic tool, or the whole audio system simply stops working.
