Time has come to think about replacing the audio in the Hippo.

I'm looking at a double din headunit with iPod/mp3 compatibility and a reversing camera. Something from Kenwood, Alpine or Pioneer.

Speaker wise I've read 5.25" components upfront are the size to go for, with caution needed around the mouning depth. I'll be removing the door card tonight to see whats what. I'm already thinking about a fibreglass/mdf baffle board to allow the speakers to mount to the door skin, but I'm interested to hear/see what you've done.

Left the factory speakers in place. I used a 10" sub and 175 Watt RMS amp to drive it.
The factory speakers are fine with a high power head unit, especially if you set up a high pass filter to them. Mine is set at 80Hz. It's more than a match for the Bose system installed in the wife's old Tiguan. The bass is better on my Freelander too.
This is what I did.
