What exactly would i need, i there actually a fuel tank breather as kits dont include one?

surely it is better to replace everything right to the axle rather than extend the 25 year old tubes.

Any info on what i need or where to get it would be greatly appreciated.

Is one pipe up the snorkel sufficient?

Thanks
Rich

The fuel tank breathes through the cap, I've not changed this and have had no problems but it depends on how much time you will spend swimming really.

There are breather kits available that include new push-fit unions for the axles, gearbox and transfer box, removing all of the OE parts.

Do you mean run all the pipes into a manifold then one larger pipe up the snorkel?

There are plenty of kits available, Gwyn Lewis makes a nice one and lots on ebay also. You could always pop down to your local air supply place and buy a handful of unions and a roll of pipe then make it yourself - it would be a lot cheaper.

Off the top of my head, you should need:
2 x axles
transfer box
gearbox
2 x wading plugs for bell housing and timing case

Some people add breathers to the timing cover etc, but once again it depends how much time it will spend in water.

HTH :)

Thank you. Rarely will go to in water but I just like to do things properly. Apparently there is an 8mm breather tube off the fuel tank? I would like to route them into a manifold yes. Do you know what size fittings go onto axles etc I think they are 6mm 1/8 bspp is this right?

Regards Richard

I didn't think there was a breather in the td fuel tanks, certainly not found one on my 1989 90. TD5 have them fitted though. I'm sure a responsible adult can confirm soon enough ;)

1/8" BSP is bang on, it may be worth getting stainless steel versions rather than the plastic unions

I bought the bits from here: Home Page

I've got no connection with the company, they just happened to be pretty local.
