I saw a complete set of mostly genuine and a few OEM almakes bearings for the job go on ebay for £80 but missed it :doh:

depends on condition but i would fit main bearings baulk rings synchro springs ,seals thrust washers in diff at least

is there anyway to test how the box is if its in a non working car or out of the car completly?

I have no idea of the history of the old girl but its rotten as a pear lol

you can feel it by rotating input shaft/outputshafts ,but you could send it or i could get it collected and go from there ,sometimes the dog teeeth on gears which are used to engage gears are worn badly in which case replacement is necessary but i have some good used ones ,hard to say

ok well I am going to have a go at getting the engine and box out next weekend but access is very limited where the car is so that shouls be fun :doh: but if we are successfull I'll give you a shout and we can go from there.

my current one is pretty noisy in 2nd and the overdrive is leaking like a sieve so maybe its time to get the ball rolling on a replacement and put the nice new overdrive zen sold me on a rebuilt box!

how much would the shipping be to you all that way up norf?

I have an engine hoist to load it into van if it saves cash- actually i coul probably lift it my self if we sort it before I get much older lol

i would just say adjust it properly in the first place then...... can be a bitch to get perfect takes much patience my friend lol and if push comes to shove i have genuine latches and pegs ( the bits that bolt to the body ) in stock original landrover ones covered in dust from years ago ( they was there long b4 i started there and ive been there 11yrs!!)

Hi mine pops open i noticed the other day way it was open the top half bent in way the handle was , in fact a nice bow in fact , i took it off and gently bent it back now it closes , like a dream and doesnt open

is it ally or steel?

mine is steel one this have found later four top tailgate s dont like going on two frames
