Hi I just found out my IRD unit gave up today. So should I get a new unit or recon ? Then where is best and what would be the possible cost ?
Any help would be great.

It's more about who you can trust than the cost, tbh.
You can probably get a used unit from a breakers for around £400, or a fully reconditioned unit from a decent operation like Bell for about £615 (if I remember rightly? I'm sure someone will correct me...)

Oh - Ireland - that may be slightly different... :/

To be honest guys I had a quote today of in or around a grand to get an IRD replaced by my local LR specialists. Just been on bell site and they do both the IRD and VCU for 815 so depending on cost of them fitting I might just get ferry over and get them to do all in one day. What do you's think ??

I've never fitted an IRD, myself so can't comment on the fitting but I'm sure with the help on this forum by more experenced members you would be able to fit it yourself.

The VCU again is no problem. I had mine off yesterday, changed the bearings and back on again probably took around an hour to do.

Hope Austen, was able to help you. Bell Engineering, are regarded as the bees knees on here when it comes to VCU, IRD, & Gearbox matters. :D

Well certainly by a few on here and Bell Engineering!!:D

Ashcroft in Luton is an alternative.
