Extended Shackles?

Hi,

Whats the deal with extended shackles? I noticed a few people using them on SWB with GB parabolix.....

....Does the shackles just provide a lifted ride height, I had some guy telling me that they do not, but alter the spring rates, talking (para)Bolix who knows?

I was hoping to use shackles to jack up height a little, but was wonder is it possible to damage springs by over flaterning then - I guessing as ride height is increased then travel will still be limited by bump stops.... more travel than designed for.....

...Also I will be going for procomp +2 so anybody had issues with suspension topping or bottoming out on dampers when using extended shackles?

they just give you a bit more lift if you use 109 ones on 88

Not 109, One Ton. Gives about 3/4" lift, but it does alter axle angles and therefore prop angles. Rocky Mountain sell corrective wedges that fit between springs and axle to overcome this.

I had to use One Ton shackles in order to run 900's

I thought the 109 and the 1 ton used the same extended shackles??

No, the 88", 109" & I Ton are all different, the 1 Ton being much longer with 3 holes drilled in each shackle.
