hello, we have a place in france and travel to and from; often spending weeks over there, does any one know of a company that will extend the european cover, without needing to declare we are going?

I had the need to use my European breakdown cover in October while returning from Andorra, I broke down near Malbet, I took out roadside assistance with Adrian Flux, what I thought was a good policy wasn't.
I wasn't told that the policy only covered £3000 which was not enough cover.
They acted quickly and were helpful, but, if you need to continue your journey, the costs start adding up and in the end there will be no money left to transport your car.

I chose to hitch a lift home and then the £3000 cover was used to transport the vehicle back home 3 weeks later.

My advice is make sure you have enough cover, also they won't pick your car up if your on a motorway you have to call the cops or limp off at the next junction which I did 20 miles later, good luck

sorry, was not talking about break down cover, was looking for a general insurance policy that is happy to cover 365 days a year abroad, as i never know where i am going to be, so planning is difficult

Quick update for you mate, well cover purchased in Europe middy cover all of Europe at the legal minium required level of cover for the full term of the policy. The insurance companies keep that quiet so they can sell you extra cover at extra profit. But is been a European requirement for a while now. You would only have 3rd party insurance bit you would be legal

thanks, thats a standard jobbie then?
As far as I'm aware it is buddy. I found this out this when I was coming over here to live, I brought my UK registered car for the first 10 months and getting quotes for extra cover was frightening until a nice lady in a brokers told me on the qt that all policies had to cover you anywhere in Europe as long as you weren't a resident there. So I obviously was only a visitor for the first 10 months [emoji6]
