Can anyone tell me about wading plugs and wading kits for a 90 TD5. Do I need them, whats the best kit to go for and how do I fit it. Or do I just need to buy a load of pipe???

Cheers

Depends how much wading you do, how deep you go and how often you service your vehicle.

Do you have a snorkel? If not, then the standard height of the breathers will be enough. The gearbox, transfer box and front axle breathers sit near the bulkhead under the bonnet but the rear only climbs up the A frame at the back. This is the only breather worth extending if you wade near the limit of your standard air intake.

If you fit a snorkel its well worth extending these up higher. now you could just extend the exisiting hoses or use some new phenumatic (sp?) couplings with 6mm nylon hose.

There should be a plug for the timing cover near the hole. It has its own little storage space and you can put a plug in the bellhousing. how necessary these are i dont know. Ive managed greenlaning without the need for them.

If you want the full kit, the cheapest place, without sourcing all the parts yourself will be Ebay. Should be around £25-30.
