Hiya, peeps !
I've been mining the forum for info for about 6 months now, but never got round to introducing myself, so: Hello !
I made the mistake of buying a 2-door 1979 Rangie Classic last October, and I've got almost all of the rust holes welded up now.....
Just got to make the electrics work, change the springs and wheel bearings, replace a swivel hub seal, get the doors to shut properly...etc, etc
Gotta say, I do love the old beast quite a lot, when I'm not underneath it with spanners and a confused expression. It's a late '79 with an M&D Engineering diesel conversion from 1990, so the engine is now a Mazda SL35ti 3.5 litre diesel with a 4-speed LT95 gearbox and the Hi side of the transfer box modded for better motorway performance. It pulls like a f**king train :flame2:, smells awful, loves snow, can climb the side of a house and will cruise happily at 140 kph (90mph) even tho' it does need 2 lanes for the weave.....heres a pic:
and another:
As u can see, it's very clean (ish) and original apart from the monster engine and a new (ish) interior....I'm actually, really, honestly only the second owner from new.
Thats about it, guys, hope u like my Rangie....
