i thought it time to replace the coolant hoses on my Defender 300tdi as I’m sure they are the original ones, so are now over 20 years old. I’ve purchased a full set of silicon hoses from siliconhoses.com who are selling them off cheap as they are discontinuing this range. The only hoses I now have to purchase is the expansion tank 3 way hose, a genuine hose is about £60 where an after market one is about £10. Should I replace my old OEM for one of the cheap after market ones or bite the bullet and get a new OEM or leave the existing one on which is 20years old but looks fine. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Can you not purchase silicon hose of the correct size ? ... fitting a new valve doohicky as required...?

Either way I would recommend you spend as much as possible. It’s good for the economy and may save the NHS.

That, or keep the bonnet firmly closed. Things can’t go wrong when hidden from view.
