though tbf that one was bought when only 2yrs old with (presumably) very little mileage on it with (presumably) a much bigger budget than the OP has..

All true, had 50k on the clock and full LR service history, my guy does say to me every time don't think about changing it or sell it to him.

I think like a lot of RR some are good some are bad and some are really bad. My P38 before crippled me! cost me a fortune but then you hear so many good things about them on here so they are not all bad.

Should just say the plastic coating on interior trims is disappointing, ive had a few bits changed by LR when I kicked up a fuss but some need doing again.

Still love it.

just try and get one with super history with bills as proof...

A warning on another forum from a specialist I use:

"Serviced a circa 2006 SC yesterday and once again the rear diff ran out putrified, rusty, water contaminated oil... Car has only covered 70k...

I do suggest the diff's are checked (or better still, oil changed) every 30k as there seams to be a real trend with water ingress in the rear diff casings on SC's & TDV8's...

Approx 40% of the cars we see have this issue..."

Trust JLR to find new ways of shortening a vehicles life

When I was there on Weds, there was a RR Vogue in the workshop ready to have the rear diff and drive shafts stripped out due to severe damage from the above problem.

Had many land rovers and up to 3 at a time. I don't have deep pockets and have been inconvenienced when more than 1 goes tits up at a time.
Glad to own a volvo s60 d5 auto for those long tarmac runs. 44 mpg and 3 years in 4 tyres 1 track rod end aside from oil and filters

As always with LR's it seems like you have to be very careful of what you buy.

dolphinboy has a '04 RR Autobiography for sale with also previous owner being a LZ member. Waiting for more details but sounds promising
