Anyway, Exmoor belt arrived today. Not a bad bit of kit. There are instructions, but they are generic, which is a bit dissapointing as its supposed to be Land Rover specific, for a Defender and for the front middle seat. However, it dont look like brain surgery.
Hole in reinforcement back plate is too big for the bolt provided. Will probably have to make a new/second hole to keep the back plate secure. Instructions indicate a 45 degree angle from shoulder to real, which contradicts the whole point of the belt, which needs to be secured to the floor behind the front middle seat. There is no cover plate for the real, which is shown in the instructions, but not on the web site images.
Kit includes an L plate, but no clue as to what to do with it. (no I'm not going to stick it up my arse).
The lap belt section looks like its long enough to strap in your passenger, and the one in the vehicle in front while your at it.
The shoulder strap s supposed to rise over the rear corner of the seat and over the shoulder, but it will probably slide over and down the site when untensed, so looks like I've also got to make a bracket to keep it sitting over the shoulder.

I've bitched about engineering standards before, but, for £80 and for a piece of equipment made to fit a standard design that is so predictably same same. Why can't people get the ****ing thing right? Pay someone fifty quid to write decent instructions and job done ffs.
Anyway, good old fashioned work it out and make it fit will sort it.
