Hi all, new to the forum, quick question to anyone who can help. I've been given a td5 defender 90 with a discovery 2 engine, it's been off road modified (35inch tyres, winch ect) it's got a large bore straight through exhaust. Will a straight through exhaust pass a mot or is it best to put a stock exhaust on. Thanks for any advice.

Depends on how noisy it is, in the opinion of the MOT tester.
It's turbocharged, which does help take a lot of noise out the exhaust.

As stated in the MOT testers handbook :)
“Exhaust noise from the vehicle must not be unreasonably above the noise level you’d expect from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition”
Thanks for the advice mate, best get a new exhaust, she's loud.

Thanks for the reply, going to have to have a think which way to go with this project, probably try to make things abit more road friendly.

It was given to me by my daughters partner, he's a tree surgeon and took it off roading, blew the rear differential to pieces, left it on my drive and got himself a discovery 4.needs a few bits doing to it but it's a good product.
