After I finish my 3" down pipe im thinking of changing up the mid section.

I love the sound the Allisport midbox gives but on long trips it can get a little annoying.

So im toying with the idea on doing a split valved system.

Comprised of a 3" straight pipe
With a T section that comes off to a 2.5" pipe and the largest muffler I can fit. Likely a 5" cylinder with a 2.5" in/outlet.

Electronically controlled valve would sit just in front of the straight pipe, just after the T section. Flick of a switch loud and meaty or fairly quiet!

Would all be mild steel, though painted VHT.

Question is can I happily mate 3" pipe to 2.5"?

Is it worth it? Should cost roughly £180ish

Anyone else made one or got one fitted?
 
I'm not sure what the point would be, seems a bit ott really.

The best bet is to have a free flowing section, like a cherry bomb. I'm doing this on mine, Ive bought a mild steel mid section straight through, which is too loud as is, so I'm going to drill a ruck of holes in it, then fab an outer section which you stuff with fiber glass or such like, this takes the horrible reverberation out, but you still get max flow and therefore increased torque lower down.

Having a switch 'to make it louder' strikes me as pointless and a gimmick IMHO. But then I want functionality and practically over anything else in my motor, everyone is different in that regard.

What I've described above is essentially a 'cherry bomb', so you could buy one of those rather than fab it if you wanted. My brothers 110 has one mid section and it sounds lovely.
 
Yeah i see what youre saying.

Currently it has Allisports version of a cherry bomb in the middle.

Idea being it would have a totally unrestricted free flowing run for good performance etc... as well as large back box to quiet things down on long journeys.

Or is it just overkill :rolleyes:
