Hi all

I just discovered a leak in the inlet/exhaust manifold (110/2.25 petrol engine).

Before I attempt to replace the seal/flange, which is where the leak is coming from, is there anything I need to consider? Apart from a few rusty bolts to contend with, it seems like a pretty straightforward job.

I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

Cheers,

T.

Use lots of penetrating/releasing oil beforehand on the bolts as they can shear  and the downpipes nuts might be brass which strip easily so go gently
You can get a new exhaust manifold with studs rather than bolts and a gasket set on eBay or just the gaskets.

Where in Greece are you? I visit Corinth every November

Many thanks for the advice. Since I’ve got a few spare seals, I might just try replacing the old one. If that doesn’t work then I’ll have to trawl eBay...

since both manifolds are bolted together its best to ensure the 4 bolts holding them arent tight so as both manifolds can move when tightening the manifold to head fastenings
