exhaust fell off..

So on my way home from Coventry this afternoon, after a 200 mile round trip my exhaust fell off. with 50 miles to go.

managed to bodge it to get home, but closer inspection now reveals that the midbox has completely rotted away from the rear pipe. everything forward of the centre box is fine.

looking at replacements now, and have thinking about a straight through pipe, but other than the 'bay cheapest seems to be about 60 quid. Now a whole centre and rear assembly is £37 paddock, so is the straight through worth an extra 23 squid, or am i just wasting my time and should keep in standard?

I realise there is divided opinion on straight through's on a 300tdi, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have the 200 tdi and I removed my centre box 1 because it weighs a ton and 2 it chokes the engine, performance is increased because the engine can breathe properly also mpg is slightly better, there is very little difference in sound, bought mine from ebay for around £30 had it two years brilliant.

I would go with straight through,made mine sound nice and made turbo spin up a bit quicker

i put a strate thru box on mine and it made no difference what so ever,youd be better of buyin a strate piece ove pipe and putting it in.thats all it is.

thanks for the replys, i thought as much. any recomendations as to best place to buy? having a look on ebay now but they all seem £50+

Try Paddocks if its a 300TDi as they are a very good fit and good quality parts.
They do a Sports exhaust part no PM011 £34.99 plus VAT.............
