Hi all,

I have 2001 Td5 Disco that has been running beautifully, however I'm not much of a mechanic! A couple of days ago it started vibrating excessively at approx 50mph in 5th gear. Today it is much worse in all gears and you can see the gearstick vibrating at idle too. It also feels like it is now isn't delivering the power as it used to.

I know that is all a but vague but any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

sounds similar to what i had with my td5 auto , used to switch it off leave a it couple of minutes start back up no problem till the next time , i put it down to the injector loom :( don,t know if it was for definate , cuz it stopped doing it after a while , felt and looked as if the block was trying to jump out of the bay .

If it's vibrating on acceleration it could be the prop shaft. The bearings go on them and they vibrate on load. Can be dangerous if it fails! Easy to change yourself though (just 8 bolts) I chose to replace the whole thing as they are balanced etc and it makes for a one time fix hopefully.
Maybe get underneath and have a look. Sometimes you can see/feel if it's loose.

Dave

(that was the front prop btw)

Hi there,

Thanks for the messages.

Quick update I also now seem to be going through excessive amounts o coolant, If I have a minor leak somewhere could this cause a reaction under acceleration?

Thanks
