I have a '97 Defender 90 with a 16 valve 2000 petrol engine with fuel injection (originally fitted out for the Italian Carabinieri). I can't get it to start unless I put my foot right down on the accelerator and then when it does start, there's this really strong smell of petrol. I've left it at the mechanic's twice for a week each time but he hasn't been able to sort out the problem. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
