Recently the Freelander was in its death froes, too many issues to list. The next stage was to look for something, which had to be Land Rover. After searching around we found a year 2000 Disco TD5 ES, once owned by the German government for use by the mountain rescue team. Then sold to a German hunter. With a full service history.

The seller had no objection in taking it to the local Land Rover garage to have it checked over prior to sale, where after examination (which we should have had done with the Freelander), we discovered the brake shoes and all the pipes had recently been replaced, the comment from the mechanic was this is the best looking Landie to date he had seen considering its age.

The only issues are the gear selector needs some attention and the clutch needs looking at, this I consider wear and tear anyway. Importantly there is no indication of the tin worm setting up shop.

As we are now proud owners, we should have made this move from Freelander to Disco years ago, its really another world. As the Disco has a dog guard in the rear, the wife is now saying we should get one to make use of it, dilemma is Viszla or border collie. Or both.

Border collie, but unless you can work the dog you need to spend a lot of time and own a lot of land :)

Congratulations on your new purchase, next stage of evolution is a defender :D

Congrats. It's true with Landrover evolution, we started with a freelander then moved onto a disco when we needed more space and now were in a proper motor :D defender110
