Hi Guys,

Starting this thread cos I am getting a disco and looking at the possible mods. The thing is that I keep seeing people talking about a 1 inch a 2 inch lift and so on and I have no idea how much benefit the lift gives, and what influences your decision about how high to go.

If its only clearance then 1" is not going to help much... does it allow for bigger tyres perhaps? If its "bigger is best" why would anyone settle for a couple of inches (except my wife of course).

I Know this is an obvious thing to ask but I am sure that there are a few on here who are just too embarassed to ask. Whereas everyone knows I know FA.

Cheers for your advice in advance.

Hi Ryder, before being able to attempt an answer to your question(s) here's a question - what is the vehicle going to be used for;
100% on-road?
50-50 on/off-road?
100% off-road?
Something in between?

Cheers
Dave

About 50/50 onn/off road. We go laning at least one day a week, sometimes more and often visit offroad sites around the country. Weekdays is the school run and the occasional visit to clients.

Cheers

Ryder

ya dont need a lift kit then:D

Stick some GOOD A/T tyres on it (235/85 R16) for best DIFF clearence, and bend, move cut ya body work so they dont catch anywhere.

Oh and get a Hi-Lift and a winch.

NO lift kit. FULL articulation (tyres are for 95% road at the moment), Nice set of 265/75 R16 bfg muds ready to go one for the muddy stuff)

Ian yer inlaws picked the bumper up. It's still got my numberplate attached to it I forgot to take it off & it wasn't till he arrived that I realised it was pop riveted on. Ya'll have to drill the rivets and post the plate back to me.
