Right I just mating the 200tdi to the gear box fitting a new paper gasket and new crank seal tried a oem one kinked it. I am thinking those rubber looking ones err2532. Anyone used these as I int want to take it back out when it's in. The orange rubber one looks ideal if it seals . Anyone good results with it??

Thanks andy

Hi, I have fitted a tight standard seal by putting it in the freezer for half an hour before, goes in with light tapping then. They need to be fitted dry so as not to contaminate the coating. This goes for the crank as well when fitting, needs to be clean.
Fit the seal to the housing then housing to block with the plastic guide, Can be a bit of a shove but it will go. Use the proper gasket with sealer already on it. You may well know this but explanation may help others. Have never used the orange type.
Cheers John.

PS Seen pic of very nice S1 in LRO with you?

If you read the turners website they say don’t use the cheap rubber seals. I just used the OEM corteco seals which you can get from turners or LRdirect. I did the same as you and ****ed the first one I fitted and had to buy another £30 but well worth it for the money. I wouldn’t use anything less since you don’t want to have to do this again any time soon.

I scratch the rubber one I had a look at the oem one it was not really damaged just a slight kink flattened out easy with my hand so I had a go at fitting it this time I tried an idea I had and it worked fantastic made putting the seal on a doddle. Get 3 10mm screwed rod and 17mm nuts place a screwed rod into the block at 9 o'clock 3oclock and 6 o'clock cut the rod flush with the nuts and pull in with an impact driver it went on smashing. No trying to fight against the dowels ect just straight on. I thought I would share my tip for anyone trying to do it and having probs like I was. Hope it will help someone if they search for info about the seal oh I ain't got a s1 it's nothing to do with me
