Thankyou for all your help guys. It is so VERY much appreciated. Speshly Stig for talking me thru everything on the phone! Yer grasp of 'teach blondes about gear boxes' is second to none!! As far as I can tell, me transfer box is fine. Its me gear box which is knackered. The output shaft has no teef left on it (they wer in the transfer gear when i took it out just now ). So its either a complete gear box re-build, or a second hand LT77. If anyones got one they wanna sell me, let me know. Until then, I'll be scouring ebay.

mite be on the trail of one that raz as told me about but bloke isn't answerin his fone yet.

Dint Daft say that he had one......all he wanted was a disco one in place at some time in the future.....seems quite an easy and closer option

So can we get this straight.

HB wants an LT77 gearbox fer her 90.

MHM has a lt77 BOX FER A 90 AN IS WILLING TO SWAP IT FER A (oops cap lock on soz) LT77 box off a disco.

I may possibly be able to get my hands on a Disco one.

I have a complete LT77 box with Tbox from a 2.5NA Defender which I got with an engine. It is supposed to be in good nick, but I aint checked it (how?) My Disco box has the usual synchro on 2 problem and i therefore need a new box (and Tbox).
I have already promised (sorta) to swap with someone local who has a defender and a scrap disco with a good box , but he only wants the 200TDi injun from it - so we cud swap boxes.

Despite statements to the contrary, I offered the whole thing to HB (well Ray actually) last nite as a swapsy (fur a disco one; sum time in the near future), but, as usual, was flamed fur being picky.
As I cant lift the fookin thing, I asked fur some assistance to get the thing into my motor, but so far no response. I have nevva changed a landy box, and now is not the time to start learning!
The offer is still there, to HB, but I wanna be able to sort out my Disco. I aint gonna loose that opportunity.

so if hb bought my lt77 disco transfer and box and gave it to MHM and he gave HB his one then the deal is back on??? let me know stiggy. i tried lee myself today mate and the unit was shut. i am sending one of the lads that way to pick some bits up tomtoz so ill get em to call in.

MHM Changin yer box is a piece of ****. If you ant got a lift kit fitted, sit the vehicle on axle stands, lower the boxes onto a piece of ply on the floor then pull the ply an boxes out from underneath. use yer imagination fer dropping the boxes.

HB do yer want me to get hold of a mate of mine who might have a spare box?

Ello Stig! I used me 'industrial wet wipes' I pikeyed from work to clean me oily fingurs.
