Hi
Fitted a eberspacher d2 out of scania truck to my defender. It fires up and runs up to temperature but when ecu takes over it shuts down, there are spare wires to ecu that are not used. any ideas? I like warm.

Best just googling a wiring diagram for them not sure about the newer style but certainly the older ones I had dealing with we're great don't recall ECM though

You'll find 90% of truck cab heaters have found there way into campervans and caravans if there 12v minty a camping forum ?

Some are 12v with a 24v transformer from 24-12 but it's about 50 50 a would say though any that come out a truck would be 24v

Doesn't look like good news, from the attached link:

Some Eberspachers are manufactured with modified ECUs so the heater can be controlled by the vehicles engine management system, they are not switched on and off in the normal way so cannot be made to work with simple wiring changes.
Usually these will be described as removed from ***** truck.
Sometimes they will be sold as "Working when removed from vehicle", that may be true but they wont work away from it!
DO NOT BUY any of these non standard versions for normal use, you will be wasting money.
They will not work on their own without replacing the ECU which costs £250 to £350!
Also some controllers have been modified to work with the engine management system and wont work away from it. (see next page)
Not all non standard units have a different connector or non standard colours but the labels are a good warning.
Scania, Mann, Mercedes, DAF, Iveco, Renault are truck manufacturers who fit modified heaters but there are probably others.
These are mainly Airtronics D2 D4 models but we know a few D1LCC are included.

Eberspacher D2

Most of the comercial ones are fitted with a timer to come on for 1hour only. There was a guy on Ebay who supplied me with a modified loom and switch so I could operate it either way. If he is still around he is very good and supplies a wiring diagram with the loom, also repaires, reconditions, and sells these units.
