Hi guys will a engine out of BMW fit its still a 2.5 TD Auto will it go into my P38 and does the BECM need redoing if the engine does fit ?regards Jeff.

Yes, if it is an M51. You will not need to touch the BECM. the only slightly tricky bit is swapping the top of the FIP. If you need any advice pm me I did the same swap last week. Another guy on here Tonyyzf was very helpful.

Heya Greenrover. Do you mean that you kept the FIP from the bimmer and just replaced the electrics (top part) for the ones from the LR engine? A part from that, was it a straightforward exchange ?

Yes, That simple.
You have to keep the BMW pump body because the RR pump will not fit the 5 series M51 engine. Then all you need to do is just be very careful fitting the EDC (top half of the pump) and be patient fitting it. any issues PM me.
