i am looking for a timing belt kit for my early 300tdi- there are two kits a ·[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]Timing Belt Kit - Def 300TDI from VA117354 - DEFENDER
or a
[FONT=&quot]Timing Belt Kit - Def 300TDI to VA117353 - DEFENDER[/FONT]

Look on ya VIN plate - or ya V5

Is it a factory 300 tdi or a retro fit into an older vehicle?

If it's factory, then check your chassis number againt the VA117353/4 numbers listed - if it's lower you need the 'to VA117353' one, if it's later you need the 'from VA117354' one.

If it's a retro fit it's a little more complicated, unless you have the chassis number the engine came from.

the v 5 and vin plate have not got a number anywhere near that??? ummmm

What are the last 8 digits of your chassis number on the VIN plate?

MA = model year 1995, a very early 300Tdi

MA comes before VA in the alphabetical scheme 'o' things dunt it?

So MAnnnnnn is earlier than VA117353 so you need the 'to VA117353' kit

The exception to this would be, if you or any previous owners have had a replacement engine that's from a later car.
