I had a head/headgasket go on my 4.0 disco. After have nothing but hell with the ****ty head bolts rolling off round I am now left with pulling the engine and drilling them out.

At this point in time I'm not too keen on putting that PoS engine back in the truck. I'm also not too keen on the land rover diesels. For one I'm in the states and its not exactly legal to do. I can get around it, but I just don't want to open up any potential headaches. I also don't want an even more underpowered truck.

I have about a $6k(USD) budget to get some body work done, paint, and a working engine in that old truck.

Just to humor myself, anyone got some info on cost for obtaining a land rover diesel and a properly geared transmission in the states? A TD5 is going to be far, far out of the budget I assume.

I'm also looking at dropping a small block chevy in the truck, anyone know of a place the manufactures adapter kits?

That link eventually led me to what I was looking for.

Really depends on how much more trouble the 4.0 gives me and how much it is to source a 350, 4L80E, and a computer for it.

I actually have all of that in the truck I bought when the disco crapped, I just don't want to tear apart my only transportation.
