Wot time isit in sunny England? I've just finished a 12 n three quarter hour shift and it's 2110 n about 20 deg c

I found these a while ago whilst looking for info on fabricating a sump guard.... any use?

Looks great James A.

You might want to consider this mod, acts as an air scoop cooling downpipe and subsequent IRD behind it.

Ground clearance was never a major strong point of Hippos so I wouldnt advise anyone to go rock hopping.

Havent had any problems since making the mod, but Aussieland is a wild terrain and who knows what Buzz will come up against.

Cooling is superb esp for the 1.8k

While you at it you might as well slap on some sill protectors and a fuel tank guard.

If you are fabricating your own, or evaluating something off the shelf, I think it is particularly important with the Freelander to consider the impact of the protector/guard if you have to reverse out of a difficult section.

The underbody protection on the Camel Freelander is hard as nails, but creates one heck of a ground anchor if I have misjudged something and need to retreat backwards ....

Cheers

Hi Guys,
Got some 3mm cheque plate alloy today, going to try to make it so that it won't scoop in reverse and also include some drain holes for drainage and ventilation. I'll take some pics and post them, won't get to it until the weekend. I'm also going to install my cb antenna on a bracket off the spare wheel mount so I'll post some pics of that too (meanwhile check out some Aussie airtime)

No worries Buzz!

Thumbnail looks great, now I wanna go in mine over that crest. Looks like you came over that jump at motocross speeds LOL

Cant beat getting full articulation on the Hippo

if those things have been fabricated, has anyone got drawings?

Why invent the wheel twice. Posting drawings (or links to them) wud make this a blistering thread!:D

Good Idea Mad Hat Man I'll draw up a diagram and post it when I've finished, I'm going to try and make it look factory, easily removable and yet still functional and stylish.
LR1976, I was actually going quite slow over the lip, it's only got standard suspension (and thats 125000km old mmmmm time for an upgrade)
