People of LZ, I am in need of en-lightment.
After much repair work (complete brakes, steer box, drag links, exhaust, drop links, bushes etc etc etc..... I re-connected the battery, re-set windows and sunroof, drove the car around 30 miles to make sure everything works ok/doesn't catch fire/fall fall off and went to lock it...... Nothing. Due to the unique way my car works, the drivers door lock is kaput. Is there something I can do to re-learn the fob? (I have read many threads on this, but it seems the engine immobilises, which mine does not)
Many thanks in advance, Jason

Does the red light on the dash go on/off when you press the required button? If so it isn't a fob issue.

If it doesn't I think there are 2 ways of synching it depending on the year. I think later models may just need the key putting in the ignition and turning after unlocking using the key. I resynched my earlier model by either pressing the unlock button and then unlocking using the key or possibly the other way around. Memory is a bit unclear at the moment. It is in the handbook.

BTW, if it isn't a fob issue then I'd guess it is likely to be either a burnt out lock motor, one of the microswitches at the bottom of the actuator or a dodgy wire / fuse somewhere.

Hi Grrrrr, thanks for the reply. There is no red light on the dash lighting when the plip is pressed, although the led on the key does light up. It's weird the engine runs fine, but no hint of locking with the fob? (I tried the door lock trick, but unfortunately it looks like a previous owner changed the drivers door handle and lock, cos the key don't fit!), I also tried the key in ignition for 20 seconds, but still no joy. It's a real pain as I can't lock the car unless I sit inside, which is ok but I don't fancy sleeping in the thing😜
Help!!!

The key doesn't fit the lock? That's going to be a REAL issue should you ever need to enter the EKA code.

What year and model is it? Someone on here will probably know exactly how your fob is synched.

Might be worth putting the fob on the rear quarter window on the right-hand-side of the car and pressing the button in case someone has disconnected the RF receiver.

I don't know if yours needs the key to turn the lock to synch but if it does you could always take the lock actuator out and press the microswitch manually to make it think the key had been turned. There are 3 microswitches but I cannot remember which is which off the top of my head!

That's one of the changeover years. Typical. Unfortunately I'm no expert on these things. Mozz seems to be the security expert.

If it were me I'd would look under the rear parcel shelf for the RF receiver unit and make sure it is plugged in. It may have been unplugged to stop the car battery draining.

You could try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. You never know, you might get lucky.

Failing that I think it'll be door trim off, lock actuator out and then working out which of the 3 microswitches is the central locking one and experimenting with pressing the fob button and manually triggering the lock. Might be worth putting new fob batteries in before you start to make sure the RF receiver has a decent signal.

Or maybe one of the other more knowledgeable people on here might have a better idea?

You're going to need a lock and key that works though. Otherwise it'll fail on you in the worst possible way at the worst possible time. I think you can transfer the key blade over in the fob.
