Hi

I own a landmark 2016 and have had issue after issue and whilst driving without any warning whatsoever the oil lamp flashed for literally a second then the car just stopped

I’ve owned this car from new, it has only about 32,000 miles on the clock, it recently went in the garage for its mot where they found an issue with uneven brakes wear the garage had it in for over a week, since coming out of the garage I’ve only about 1,000 miles and then this happened. They are currently investigating the engine seize, any advise would be welcomed

Thanks

Welcome to Landyzone, sorry you've had so much trouble.
Appears to be a known issue, best of luck.

Hi it’s Sdv6 I think, had it from new warranty expired 20 July, it just had an mot In July they said there was a problem with the brakes wearing unevenly and had it in for over a week.

I am a little shook up today thinking about what could have happened if I was in the outside lane of the motorway, there was absolutely no notice and the engine just switched off!

Welcome :)

Sorry to hear this and months out of warranty :(, if you ask in the relevant section you will get better knowledge.
Give as much info and description of what happened, what the garage says, when you do.
I have no knowledge of the engine but have seen horror stories and there are guy/gals on here that know,

But such low mileage you maybe lucky and LR May give some good will. Dealer service history from new?
You say it just stopped? Would it turn over after and just not start?

Good luck

J

Yes it happened so quickly, we heard a noise not loud at all and we thought we had picked up a nail in the tyre and within literally 10 seconds if that, the oil lamp flashed on and the engine died immediately, so basically no warning at all. we were on a single track road (60m zone) we were just so lucky that there was no cars behind us as we had no power, it just cruised slowly as you can imagine and we managed to get it onto a small grassy area, there was no verge really, had this of happened on the motorway I just dread to think of the consequences. We were in such a precarious position that the police came to put out notices to warn on coming traffic.

The garage called me yesterday to say the engine had seized and they will look into the cause, I mentioned to them that it had just had an mot at the end of July and I was not told of any low oil issue and if the oil was low they normally top it up so I doubt that’s what is at fault, after the mot they subsequently had it in for a whole week sorting out some uneven wear on the brakes. So I’m at a total loss, I just keep having flashbacks at the speed it all happened and I am grateful that no one was injured as the outcome could have been so different.

I have thought of going to the ombudsman if LR font help as I’ve had issue after issue with this car.

Hello.

I recommend getting it "nicked" and then burnt out for the insurance, far better than the hell you are about to endure.

Sorry to hear your story. Atleast everyone is okay. See what LR say first - they have the ability to put it right. If not, you can take it further

Welcome
Thank you, I hope they do because I don’t know where I would get the money for a new engine, a friend told me that if your car is faulty you gave up to 6 years to return it! Does anyone know if this is true? Or are we governed by the 3 year warranty given at the outset?

Theres a dodgy company on the web who collect your car and cash for a recon engine. Offer to collect, fix and return. You never see them again. Currently investigated and going through court but still trading and conning peeps. They use false addresses all over the country. Don't use them. Check with us first who you choose to do the repair.
