I have an engine related squeak on one of my vehicles, it's the PS pump.

It helped that I mis-diagnosed the idler pulley first, which is close by.
Always good to have a spare used idler pulley.:D

I put a spare tensioner pulley on, but that didn't help :(

Hmm.. leaning to exhaust blow at the mo. Did a compression test and you can hear it blowing clearly without the engine running

Take the oil cap off and rev her up..

See if the sound gets worse.

    Hope not!
It does sound like it's from the manifold somewhere. It needs to come off for inspection

I recommend you use the hose pipe trick to locate the blow kermit - will save you removing things "for inspection". I had this on my 4L Defender and only had to do the gaskets on the downpipes, not even exhaust manifold

Use a small length of pipe to your ear and the other end around the area to help track the leak. Mmmm, with care!!!

When i did a compression test the other day, only heard it from one cylinder so i think that rules out the downpipe joint
I'm going to try putting a vac on the tail pipe, see if i can hear it under suction. Hose pipe may still prove useful!!

I think that involves loud repetitive music, flashing lights, cannibis resin and a piece of kit called a bong.
