I recently bought a 57 plate Freelander 2 TD4 SE. I bought it to tow a caravan and previously have had no faults. However the first time that I pull the caravan with the car, after travelling around 30 to 35 miles the car has lost power. This has happened twice, the first time they told me it was down to low oil level. Oil was topped up and the car ran okay. Today it happened again, and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was the fix?

Because you're using more power for longer? The FL2 is a complex machine, that can suffer loads of strange faults. You really need to do a diagnostic read and see why it's going into reduced power.

I will get it booked in for a read of fault codes, thanks for help V6.

Is it an auto? Check the gearbox oil cooler. Make sure the fins are clean of muck and nothing is blocking the airflow.

I find the FL2 to be a pretty good towing vehicle, easily capable of exceeding its legal capacity. On twisty, hilly roads it’s better slipping it into ‘sports’ mode to minimise gear changes.
