Hi all, your help is appreciated.

Just put a 200 tdi engine into a 2.5td, all going well, sounds great but have an issue!

Start engine, all sounds good, good temperature, fan comes on and keeps it at a steady temp. Once I start driving the temp starts to rise and won't go back down evening with fan running.

New Thermostat has been put in, rad is not blocked. Egine will sit for an hour easy without overheating, only when you start to drive

Any thoughts?

Ta

What do the top and bottom hoses feel like? Both hot?

could be a circulation issue

It aint over heating mate trust me, I trust you have just fitted a Disco 200tdi motor??? if you have then change your temprature sender for a 90 Defender 200tdi sender, they are matched to the gauges. mine runs just onto the red at normal temp, I have yet to change my sender!;)

My 90 has a 200 disco engine in it..so I wonder if that sender has been changed as the temp usually runs over the middle, closer to the red bit...

is there a way of identifying which sender I have?

Yep take it out and write down the number that is stamped on it, should start with prc then 4 numbers. (mine is PRC9917 disco 200tdi);)
go on Paddocks site and type in the number on thier search and you'll know which you have.
I have just ordered mine from here; Steve Parker Land Rover Spare Parts, Land Rover Accessories, Exhausts, Suspension

Stood at the drivers side looking at the engine, follow the radiator top hose to the thermostat housing and there it is screwed into the therhostat housing! with one wire going to it.
