Need help identifying oil leak location. Engine oil is dripping onto the rear of my alternator from somewhere. There is also oil down the same side of the engine but I cannot find where it might be coming from. The rocker gasket is new and there is no leak from the FP regulator. It seems to be under the inlet manifold somewhere near cylinders 1 & 2. Head gasket maybe?
I'd guess being a Disco it's a common fault so hoping someone has an idea of the problem and the fix.

I would check front camshaft seal it's a round disc it just pushes in . Only cost a few quid and anyone can fit in minutes

Thanks for the replies. Have pretty much ruled out the FPR as it almost dry, only really because of a tiny weep from the rocker gasket.
The oil leak seems to be on the engine block next to the alternator. I've had another look at I see there is a core plug and another screw in plug on the engine block, is the screw in plug known to leak oil?

Would really check that front camshaft cover on front of block . If you just touch it you will tell that's it's lose or not as the o ring goes hard after time . Mine had all but fallen out . Only the loom passing in front of it was holding it in. And the oil coming out was being blown by the fan all over the alternator and down the side off engine .

Checked again the camshaft front seal. Not that, pity really cos that would have been an easy fix. Starting to think it may be the inlet manifold gasket after reading some other threads?

Have you checked where the injector loom comes out on the front corner above alternator .plus check the plug end into ecu for oil while your looking

Nope, still cannot find the leak. Oil is definately engine oil and leaking down the o/s side of the block from below the inlet manifold. Looks like I shall be taking the manifold off in the new year to investigate.

Check the oil feed pipe to the alternator vacuum mine had a pinhole where it joins the metal coupling. Took absolute age to track down.

Had the same fault, it was the front camshaft seal had fell out but couldn't see with the fan cowl in place, easy and low cost to replace.

Will have a look at RAVE. What does the oil feed go to? The alternator or the vacuum pump? As I cannot see a leak from the head to block join this now seems the most likely suspect.

Had a look at RAVE and the oil feed and return to the vacuum pump looks the most likely cause of the leak. Will get under the bonnet again tomorrow and check it out.
