I've got same issue - short duration trips no problem. Longer trips and fuse blows. Engine runs without fuse, but will not start without it. Went through a few fuses one day so went for replacing fuse with 2 wires, 2 blade connectors and m+fm bullet connectors - Blades into fuse holder, a length of wire from each blade to each 1/2 of bullet connector in a position you can access whilst sat in seat. To start; select neutral, turn ignition on, hold bullet connector 1/2's together, wait for glow plug light to go out, turn key to start, disconnect bullet connectors, move off. Saves fuses until we can resolve cause of problem (unless you already have seeing your post is old)
I'm thinking it's a heater plug issue or heater plug timer relay issue. Need to do more checks, unless you/someone else already knows the answer.
