hi my engine management light comes on intermittently, it has sounded rough for a few weeks, but now feels likes it lurches and then the light comes on until the engine is turned off. It doesn't come back on that frequently but sounds really rough running, has anybody get any ideas please, it's a td5 year 2000

Hi, the MIL warning is triggered only by two elements, the throttle position sensor or the crank position sensor signal, check it's wiring and plug cos it used to get loosen or ingressed with crud.... if you hear funny noises too it can be a dual mass flywheel failure cos if it's worn bad it can disturb the crank signal

Ahhh I said it sounded like a fly wheel noise - that sounds an expensive big job ? - someone said I needed to plug it in for a diagnostic check is that necessary - many thanks for your reply

A diagnostic check never hurts, at least you'll see the fault code which i presume it's crank signal related... the flywheel replacement means gearbox off so if you end up doing this better get a complete clutch-flywheel set...and SPIGOT BUSH
