Hi, When i put my foot to the floor and keep my foot down in my 2000 auto td5 it kicks down as usual but the engine management light comes. Everythig seems ok and all i have to do is turn the ignition off and back on and the light goes off.

Anyone else come accross this before?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Will take it to get plugged into computer next week anyway but if its a common thing then may be able to sort before.

Many Thanks

What u can try before plugging into scanner is to check if the wiring harness multiplug is fully engaged and latched to APP(accelerator pedal position) sensor, clean the contacts, or coud be the sensor itself common fault..

Checked the multiplug and all seems ok. Was feeling around the back of my engine today trying to find the source of a leak when i felt something loose. Its a sensor that sits in the top of the gearbox. The engine was running and as i pulled the sensor out the engine went to cut out so i shoved it back in. Low and behold the engine management lamp came on. Turned car off, re started and lamp went off. The bolt holding it in has come loose at some point and fell out. So have put a new bolt in to secure it and now its ok. Obviously vibrating out when i kicked the box down. Nice! Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated!
