When I turn the key to position 2 ready to start my 2003 TD4 Freelander the EML to the right of the ABS light goes off as it is meant to and then immediately comes back on for 7seconds. It does this if I start the car immediately or hang off till the light goes back off. Weather I wait till it goes off or not does not affect the starting ability and it starts first time and quickly weather hot or cold.

Ive tried accelerating up hill at full throttle and it does not come on. I have never had it come on while driving, only at start up. It does not seem to make a difference if hot or cold but if the car is switched of and restarted immediately it does not happen.

The Fuel pump has been replaced but I was wondering is there two pumps in the 2003 Td4 and if so does this should like a weak pump.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Paul.

2003 could have one or two. Freelanders either have one under the wheelarch only or one underbonnet and one in-tank pump.

A weak pump would give problems when there is a high demand so not sure that includes your issue.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any photos handy of where the pump under bonnet is and Ill have a look. Dont know if the high demand would match with the symptons in that it only happens when key is turned to the starting posiiton. Never (as yet or over the past year) while driving.

When I have a chance Ill get it plugged in and see if anything comes up!

which/where was the pump that has already been replaced?

underbonnet pumps are next to the filter at the rear right hand side of the engine compartment.

 it's strange but in some ways good that you have no other symptoms.
