Hi everyone,

Seriously need some help with this one!

My wife was out taking the kids to school and I get the phone call something is wrong with car. Whilst accelerating the engine would loose power around 1800 revs then the engine management light would illuminate. So we took to our local garage and the diagnostic tool picked up a problem with the injectors (forgot to ask for code) so they were sent off for analysis which concluded they were all naff! I was quoted a ridiculous price to replace with brand new ones so we opted for them to be reconditioned.

About 4 days later I get a call from the garage to say they had replaced the injectors but still the car is not running correctly. Next up, fuel pump (behind left wheel arch) this was also found to be faulty and was replaced with a brand new pump. Our car was with the garage for 2 weeks and I picked it up at the weekend, took it for a spin on the motorway as recommended. Whilst you could say normal 30mph driving was some what sluggish and unpleasant by the time I reached the motorway I could not even go above 50mph. Even getting close the car started to vibrate like I was doing 100mph over rubble! This times no engine management light. The car sound terrible, like it’s about to conk out any minute.

Mods prior to event:
• EGR Bypass
• On every fill up I add 2 stroke & Millers as recommended on this forum

Repairs just carried out
• 4 recon injectors
• 1 new fuel pump

Since getting it home I have replace the air filter, was going to replace the PCV valve but the guy in the garage has given me the incorrect part!

Also, I want to change the MAF sensor as I recall reading on Rover Ron’s site the diagnostic tool doesn’t always pick up a faulty MAF. Therefore the Pierburgh was recommended, however it states this should not be installed without a synergy 2 unit?

In Summary:
The garage bill was £1200 and has hurt like hell! Apart from the MAF & PCV can anyone suggest anything else, this is our only family car which we saved long and hard for \and just seems a great shame it taken a turn for the worst.

Take the fecking thing back to the garage where you handed over 1200 quid??
 
I would check the fuel rail pressure sensor, on the end of the rail, and change your fuel filter.

Have you also checked/changed your crankcase breather filter?

OOOOOOHH Yes it will be going back!!! just wanted to check other options in case they decide to start charging for additional parts/labour that I can do myself.

Will check fuel rail next week and I have a replacement fuel filter. We have owned the car for less than a year and the crank breather has never been changed, going to buy one of ebay in a mo.

Just took the car round the block, why......Just in case a miracle had happened and she was all sorted. SO, got home popped the hood just for another look and found a connector had snapped/damaged on the brake fluid reservoir and now the hand brake light is continuously on.

(Please see attached image)

A. Does anyone know the part no. to replace it's the white part on the reservoir on the not the black connecting part.

B. Could this be the reason the handbrake light wont go out.

C.Is it safe to drive.

Don't know the Doozal but similar on petrol - super glued mine back on. Should be OK to drive as no fluid leak. Not sure it has much to do with handbrake warning tho??

handbrake warning light acts in conjunction with brake fluid level sensor warning of low brake fluid or handbrake is on,so no problem,but you wont know if you have a leak if you dont fix it:eek:
